About this work:
Midnight Duel:
1. A gunshot at midnight, a flash of light in the darkness, the subsequent sonic wave reverberating through our understanding of what art is and can be.
2. The swing of a sword, cutting through the “fourth wall” of time—a four-dimensional painting in a world of two-dimensional paintings.
This is the first work I created on a dimensional panel which varies in height, width, and depth simultaneously across the work. It represents the dramatic conflict between opposing forces and their reconciliation in the same work. This work bridges the dualities between painting and sculpture, between internet subcultures and classical art, between painting and music and painting and film, between artist and viewer, and within myself, as the artist, of creating my work through an analytical, process-based approach or through romantic intuition. It is at once the proximate achievement of my Eureka 2.0 series and the breaking of new ground—the dawn of Spatium.
