About this work:
The geometric abstract composition in this work is a fractal pattern based on the golden ratio, specifically, golden triangles in which each larger triangle is divided into smaller triangles. The high-gloss black which makes up the majority of the work is broken up by a high-tech, matte black paint called “Black 3.0”, which is the very darkest black paint available on the market.

I created “Vader” on a dimensional panel of my own design and construction, using wood prized for its dimensional stability.
This work varies in height, width, depth, and pitch. Maximum dimensions (HxWxD) (including total width of both panels): 50.25x26.25x7.25”. Minimum depth is 1.5” at the bottom.
The paints I used in this work are lightfast and archival, including the “Black 3.0” paint used for the darker, matte black areas. The work will retain its appearance for years without fading, however, special considerations regarding placement need to made for this work. In order to retain the maximum light-absorbing effect, I have not varnished those dark black areas, and they are therefore slightly more susceptible to damage. Generally speaking, the work has the resilience to be displayed in your home office, less so if it’s in a heavily-trafficked area, such as the lobby of your corporate headquarters. This work is signed, titled, and dated on the back. I have installed hanging wire on the back of the work as well.
