About this work
This is the largest work I’ve ever created, and so I went big with the content too. This work was inspired by great cathedrals and the works by master artists found in them. I thought of the idea of “ascension” be it the ascension of Christ or of Mary into heaven. Considering other meanings of “heaven”, I thought of “the heavens”, outer space, and chose to draw from an image of a nebula, due to the immensity and power and mystery held by those vast areas of space. Throughout the process of painting the imagery on the panel, I sought to literally create the most beautiful piece I’ve ever made with the goal of eliciting the same sense of awe experienced in great cathedrals, with the ultimate goal to honor God through this work.

Signed, titled, and dated on the back.
French cleats installed on the back of the work for securely hanging at the proper orientation.
